News outlets across the US have been reporting major outages on AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile cellular networks today. The Rapid Response IT Engineering Team has been actively monitoring the outages since they began around 4:00 AM ET. Monitoring Center activity has been steady, but we have seen a drastic reduction in traffic for devices utilizing cellular communication as well as the FirstNet solution. As noted by the media outlets, we have also received reports that some 911 centers that utilize a cellular communication infrastructure are impacted as well.We have received notifications from many industry cellular communication vendors that their services have been impacted and that they too have not been provided with a root cause or an ETA on repair from the cellular carriers. Devices have been noted to experience partial and full communication impairments, including inability to register or activate devices consistently. However, some vendors have indicated that they are seeing improvements in the number of connections. Our team is continuing to monitor this cellular network outage situation closely and will provide updates as soon as additional information is available.https://lnkd.in/ebjSire7

HEADS UP: You may already be aware that AT&T customers across the country are experiencing cellular outages. If you are an AT&T cellular customer without access to phone, text, or the internet, you can turn on Wi-Fi calling. If you have access to Wi-Fi, you should be able to call and send text messages. There is no indication that this outage is the result of a cyberattack or other malicious activity. Per an industry source, the issue appears to be related to how cellular services hand off calls from one network to the next, a process known as peering. At this time, we are seeing no evidence of AT&T internet customers being affected.

https://lnkd.in/e7WWfzHUhttps://lnkd.in/eG6VWDjeAbout AT&T outage, one important note that many news didn’t mention. Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) continue to be delivered across the AT&T wireless networks during outage. Despite Individual handset doesn’t have data service nor can make voice call, the handset is still able to receive WEA message if it locates within affected area. This is because wireless carriers implemented Short Message Service Cell Broadcast (SMS-CB)technology for Emergency Alert Notifications. Thus. WEA is handle differently comparing to voice and data traffic.

The AT&T network outage last week prevented tens of thousands of subscribers across the US from fully accessing calls, texts, internet, and emergency services such as 911. The company stated “Based on our initial review, we believe that today’s outage was caused by the application and execution of an incorrect process used as we were expanding our network,”The financial cost of such outage goes beyond lost revenue, but could potentially affect share prices and customer retention. Highlighting that even the largest US carrier with robust operations is not immune to downtime. Article 🔗 : https://lnkd.in/dVkJtVtB#attoutage #businesscontinuity #disasterrecovery #riskmanagement

Heads up! AT&T is currently experiencing a significant network outage impacting many of their customers across most of the country. While there are reports that T-Mobile is also impacted, this is not accurate. Our network is working and there are no issues. However, T-Mobile customers attempting to contact AT&T customers may experience issues due to the AT&T network outage. We understand how outages can cause a huge burden on your business. The most important piece is how quickly the issue gets resolved and their communication with customers. In the meantime, if you're frustrated with your existing carriers, look no further than T-Mobile Business. With continued price hikes and poor performing 5G networks, we understand. Call us anytime to learn more or simply to vent your frustrations. We're here to listen and help. 😇

There is a massive outage impacting several cellular carriers today. It appears to be mostly related to the AT&T network, but since all the networks have some interdependency, many other carriers are impacted as well. Here is one report with more detail https://lnkd.in/grgSyBbv . Where possible, turn on your wi-fi and wi-fi calling to avoid the issues.
