Traveling in a fried-out Kombi
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said
Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover
Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six-foot-four and full of muscle
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich
And he said
I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover, yeah
Lyin' in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me
Because I come from the land of plenty?"
And he said
Oh, you come from a land down under? (Ooh, yeah, yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover ('cause we are)
Living in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
(Can't you hear thunder) can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover
Living in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? (Ooh yeah)
Better run, you better take cover (we are)
Living in a land down under (ooh yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you, can't you hear the thunder?
Better run, you better take cover
Living in a land down under (living in a land down under)
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you, can't you hear the thunder?

Song Meaning
The clip and the lyrics 'On a hippie trail held full of zombie' give the meaning of this song away in a second.
In the video they are seen in a VW Combi van (the fried out Combi from the song) on a journey, which happens to be the famous 'hippie trail' of the 60's and 70's, which ran through Europe, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and into India. As you can see in the song, the second verse has them beginning in a cafe in Brussels (Belgium) and finishing in an Opium den in Bombay (India). This was a trip undertaken by many a hippies at the time and really was the start of youth backpacking/travelling culture as we know it today.
Clearly the song takes them through the journey on the hippie trail, doing lots of drugs and meeting many Australians along the way. In addition to this it is also presenting some of the stereotypical views/opinion on Australians in general.

The song refers mainly to the journey loads of wasters made from western Europe to India because they were just that - wasters. It's a light hearted look at what could happen along the hippy trail to India if you were constantly stoned. Good song - they got sued by the girl scouts of australia for stealing the scouts anthem - The Kookabura Sits In The Old Gum Tree.

This is what i really have a huge appreciation of this site for.
You see, for the longest time I thought the line was "then she gave me a bite of my sandwich"
Which made absolutely no sense to me.
then I come to this site to learn the lyrics to sing the song properly, then I come to find out that I misheard it and the line is "then she gave me a Vegemite sandwich".
To which I went arrrrrrgh.
So has anybody else hear "then she gave me a bite of my sandwich" or is it just me?

Cannibal RedHook Frontwoman Emmy Mack had this to say about the track; "I wanted to write a song that felt like Nine Inch Nails meets ‘WAP’. An empowering metal anthem that would help me smash some of the stigma and shame around sex that I felt for a long time after surviving SA. Consensual sex is one of the most awesome things in the world! And we’re beyond grateful to the legends in Alpha Wolf for backing this vision, for helping us inject more sexual liberation into the world of heavy music, and above all, for conspiring with us to create a horny metal song about oral sex that people can f*ck to." when rules change Life in Your Way High life Step Ministry Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; Fortnight Taylor Swift The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.Rate These Lyrics
